Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust

In July 2021, GHFT embarked upon a critical part of its ongoing digital transformation programme—the go-live of its Sunrise EPR in its emergency departments. This was even more challenging as the hospitals were still recovering from the huge pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, including workforce shortages and increased demand. Despite this, through a successful and carefully managed change programme, GHFT effectively removed paper processes in its EDs overnight.

Learn more about Sunrise EPR

“The process was carefully planned and relied on the collaboration between operational, clinical, administrative, and EPR teams, as well as the Altera Digital Health team. This enabled us to go live with full EPR clinical functionality including clinical assessment, triage, safety checklists, observations, requests, results and bed requests with minimal disruption to patients.”

Mark Hutchinson, Chief Digital Information Officer at GHFT
